Off Topic: Guns-n-Roses and the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame

It was announced today that Guns-n-Roses would be inducted into the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame. Bands become eligible 25 years after the release of their first album. Guns-n-Roses release ‘Appetite for Destruction’ on July 21, 1987.

This was expected. Of course Guns-n-Roses would be inducted. Politically, if the band wasn’t nominated, it would have resulted in lots of negative press for the hall of fame. “How could they skip GNR?! Hall of LAME!!! etc.” Instead, the band gets nominated and the big question people are asking is – “will Axl Rose show up?” “And if he does – will he perform?” “And if he performs – will he insist that it be with only his current band?” Christ.

Axl – don’t be an asshole. Call the guys, get in a few rehearsals, share a few meals and perform at the ceremony. Don’t dick around with semantics. Get there on time, graciously accept the accolades and smile for the camera. You’ll also want to have something prepared for when everyone starts asking about a reunion  tour.

Thanks.
